Modbus in the G Series switches

Description

The switch supports the Modbus RTU and TCP protocols in both Master and Slave modes. It can efficiently forward the read values via the SNMP protocol.

Limitations

Currently, NO event has been implemented that would trigger automatic actions.
Modbus configuration is available via SNMP or in the SIMULand.v4 application; Modbus cannot currently be configured via the CLI.  

Practical application for collecting and visualising energy consumption data

• Measurement: The Modbus electricity meter measures total energy consumption and is connected to the switch’s RS-485 bus.

Electricity meters with a Modbus interface are included in selected models of the OH series switchboards. 

• Reading: The LAN-RING switch regularly reads values from the electricity meter’s Modbus register.
• Storage: The control unit (IPLOG) retrieves this data from the switch using SNMP queries and stores it in its MySQL database.
• Display: The measured values are clearly displayed in real time in the Grafana application.
