Modbus in the G Series switches

descriptionThe switch supports both Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP protocols, in both Master and Slave modes. It can efficiently forward the read values using the SNMP protocol.

Limitations
Currently, NO Event has been implemented that would trigger automatic actions.
Modbus configuration is available via SNMP or in the SIMULand.v4 application; Modbus cannot currently be configured via the CLI.  

Example: Automated collection and visualisation of energy consumption data

1. Measurement: The Modbus electricity meter measures total energy consumption and is connected to the switch’s RS485 bus.
2. Reading: The LAN-RING switch regularly reads values from the electricity meter’s Modbus register.
3. Storage: The control unit (IPLOG) retrieves this data from the switch using SNMP queries and stores it in its MySQL database.
4. Display: The measured values are clearly visualised in real time in the Grafana application.
