RS485 serial lines

The LAN-RING F and G series industrial switches are equipped with two RS-485 buses that can be configured for different operating modes.

The following rules apply for data transmission of alarm systems designed according to EN 50131-1:

  • All frames are marked with VLAN headers according to IEEE 802.1Q.
  • All connected systems have a defined bandwidth (protection against DDoS attacks).
  • Alarm system data has the highest priority QoS bits set.
  • It is recommended to monitor the activity of all ports of the transmission system using SNMP.
