A useful feature of G switches is the Reboot Delay function. This allows you to safely test configuration changes without the risk of permanently losing control of the device and having to physically move it into place.
Default state: the switch boots with Boot config by default .
Boot Protection Mode: You set a timer (countdown) before starting changes.
This determines the time window during which you can safely edit the Running config.
Auto Rescue: If you make a mistake during testing that cuts you off from managing the switch (e.g. a misconfigured VLAN), you don't need to panic. When the set time interval expires, the switch will automatically reboot and load the original, working Boot config.
The main benefit: If the configuration change is successful and the connection remains stable, you simply cancel the timer and save the new configuration(Running config) as the default(Boot config). If something goes wrong, the switch will "cure" itself by rebooting.
