Advanced IP Watchdogs

LAN-RING and IPLOG PLCs support advanced IP watchdogs that not only monitor the availability of IP devices, but are also capable of performing a number of automatic actions if a problem is detected.

The ARP protocol is used to monitor the availability of IP devices, allowing it to be used even for IP devices with ICMP (ping) disabled. The capabilities of the LAN-RING switches and IPLOG-GAMA PLCs are as follows:

  • 8 IP Watchdogs in small switches
  • 16 IP Watchdogs in 19" switches
  • 32 IP Watchdogs in IPLOG units

IP Watchdog can:

  • send email / SNMP trap
  • control local/remote relays
  • send HTTP / ONVIF commands
  • enable/disable the Ethernet port

Example event: if device 3 is detected to be disconnected, relay output 1 is activated.
