Security infrastructure in a technology company

The customer's main requirement was to obtain a modern security system to address the risks associated with the new headquarters of their technology company. METEL LAN-RING industrial switches were therefore used as a universal network infrastructure connecting the IP CCTV security system, the access control system and the perimeter system. All designed and supplied by SICURIT Alarmitalia as an integrated security system for high-risk facilities.

  • Encrypted management
  • Operating temperature -40°C to +70°C
  • LAN - IP solution with PoE+ support
  • COM - Universal Serial Interfaces
  • Integrated surge protectors
  • Event Management
  • Redundant circular topology

A major Italian technology company, which was building its new headquarters of over 5,000m2, wanted to ensure the protection of valuable items stored in their warehouses. These had already been looted in the past. The required security system was to include an electronic access control system, perimeter protection, an IP CCTV camera system and a central management platform. All of the installed security system equipment is connected to a redundant fibre optic network, which, due to redundancy, prevents security holes in the event of a network failure. The redundant optical LAN-RING network connects the Sicurit Hyperpower control platform with peripherals for connecting alarm sensors, modules for controlling lighting systems, Sicurit Absolute PRO double perimeter barriers, an access control system and the Geutebrück IP CCTV system for video recording. The system is divided into independent optical circles, which are controlled by a 2G-10S.F backbone switch located in the main control room. The first ring is dedicated to the perimeter protection system, where ABSOLUTE PRO barriers are installed. The optical switches (2G-2S.0.3.F-BOX and 2G-2S.0.3.FC-BOX) are directly installed in the barriers and share the power supply with them. The second ring with switches (2G-2S.0.3.F-BOX and 2G-2S.1.4.F-BOX) is designed for IP CCTV interconnection, while the third ring is ready for roof protection. Each optical circle is independent of the others, but at the same time allows communication between devices connected to different circles. The switches in the first circle not only transmit alarms coming from the perimeter barriers, but also from the RS485 buses where the Sicurit access control modules are connected, including remote keypads and I/O modules for lighting control.

The Hyperpower platform is the brain of the whole system connecting all the subsystems described above.

Conclusion

The successful implementation of the project has provided the customer with a high performance, secure and reliable security solution. The system is easy to operate by the customer's employees responsible for security. The company's headquarters is continuously expanding. Due to the technical parameters of the equipment used, the possibility of future growth of new equipment is ensured without overloading the existing architecture.
