The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act 2019 (NDAA) is a federal law signed into law in August 2018. It includes a provision (Section 889) restricting certain Chinese telecommunications and surveillance technologies. Specifically, this section of the law prohibits federal agencies, their contractors, and recipients of federal grants or loans from purchasing or using equipment or services from specific Chinese companies, including Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, Dahua, HiSilicon SOC…, or any subsidiary or affiliate of such entities.
