The current firmware of LAN-RING switches and IPLOG PLC units allows sending emails via SMTP server.
E-mail can be sent in two ways:
- When each enabled trap is generated, an email will be sent to one address marked as "Logger". The message contains the time, trap OID, value and index. This function is referred to as SMTP Logger. It can be used, for example, to log SNMP traps in the form of emails. These are usually not blocked by the firewall, unlike SNMP ports.
- Sending an email can also be set as an automatic action for any entry in the "EVENTS" menu. An email can be sent to up to 5 addresses. The sending of each information is set separately for each address. Thus each person receives only the emails that belong to him/her and is not burdened with unnecessary information.
