Connecting the ABSOLUTE PRO perimeter system with IP CCTV

The main idea of this project was to combine METEL IPLOG and Sicurit ABSOLUTE PRO technologies to create a cost-effective and highly secure perimeter protection system. The project is also a good example of how to implement a new security system in an existing building without installing new cabling.

  • Encrypted Management
  • LINUX - a long-term stable operating system
  • FBD & LD - graphical programming languages
  • GSM - remote access via 2G/3G/4G-LTE
  • LAN - modern IP solutions
  • COM - sériové rozhraní Modbus
  • I & O - wide range of inputs and outputs

The new Italian car dealer Porsche wanted to design a security system to protect the perimeter of its showroom and interior areas. The system had to communicate with the existing control panel and video system. The client insisted on using only the existing cabling without adding new cabling. The facility was already in use and therefore could not be disrupted by digging trenches for new cabling. Therefore, the only solution was to use the existing UTP/FTP cables. The customer chose a system consisting of IPLOG controllers and the Absolute PRO perimeter system. The latter is designed in such a way that it allows easy collection of important operational data directly over the LAN by the Absolute PRO - Avantgarde diagnostic software. This eliminates the need to install additional special cabling. Alarms from the six pairs of Absolute PRO perimeter barriers are collected by a single IPLOG control unit located in the control room near the control panel. The IPLOG communicates with the barriers via MODBUS TCP protocol and forwards received alarms to relay outputs that are connected to the control panel. The integrated IPLOG & Absolute PRO system is also capable of performing other functions related to perimeter protection, such as automatic rotation of cameras in the event of an alarm, sending emails and SMS (G2 or G3 series). The IPLOG PLC therefore allows the perimeter system to communicate with a wide range of third party systems. The following perimeter barrier states are handled in the described system: ALARM, TAMPER and GENERIC BARRIER FAULT. IPLOG provides 8 output relays:

  • alarms from 6 sectors
  • sabotage barrier
  • combined generic failure

The function of the system is monitored by the ABSOLUTE PRO diagnostic software (SICURIT PPS). IPLOG also acts as an IP Watchdog, which informs the client and the service technician about the unavailability of installed IP devices on the network via e-mail or SMS messages. The customer was offered the option of having multiple output relays to signal other conditions. This part of the offer was rejected for the time being due to the lack of free inputs in the control panel used.

The experience gained in this and other similar applications led to the creation of new types of controllers IPLOG-G2E-RE8.2E and IPLOG-G2E-01-RE8.2E, which are optimized for perimeter applications with Sicurit ABSOLUTE PRO systems.

Conclusion

The system was built as required. No earthworks or laying of new cabling. The only construction work was the placement of the pedestals under the ABSOLUT PRO barriers. The system was successfully commissioned, including remote management via Sicurit PPS software. The completed installation with the ABSOLUTE PRO perimeter system and IPLOG control unit guarantees the customer a high level of protection and low maintenance costs.
